History of VSC Caladrius
A passionate team dedicated to specialised veterinary medicine
CALADRIUS is the first Veterinary Specialists Center in Belgium, bringing together veterinarians and veterinary care assistants (VCAs) practicing exclusively in specialised medicine and surgery.
Our ambition is to work in close collaboration with our referral colleagues, offering them state-of-the-art expertise and technical facilities to provide the best possible care for all patients, whether furry, feathered, or scaly.
THE CALADRIUS
A mythological healing bird
The Caladrius is a legendary and fantastic bird of the Middle Ages, featured prominently in bestiaries where it is described as being the size of a crow or heron and possessing great healing powers.
According to legend, any ill person of whom the Caladrius gazed into the eyes was destined to live.
By gazing at the ill person, the Caladrius would take the illness into himself and then fly towards the sun, where he would burn away the illness.. In this way, the diseased person would be cured.
The Caladrius, with its benevolent gaze, represents hope, sharing and the preservation of well-being, all values we hold dear.
